About HAS-BLED estimates 1-year risk of major bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation on anticoagulation. It is used alongside CHA2DS2-VASc to balance stroke versus bleeding risk.

Clinical Use Use to identify modifiable bleeding risks in AF patients considering anticoagulation. A high score does not, by itself, preclude anticoagulation.
